I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at South Dakota State University. I am also a Research Associate at The South Dakota Polling Project, the Editor of Journal of Undergraduate Research, and an editorial board member of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science and International Affairs from the University of Georgia.

My research is interdisciplinary in scope and lies at the intersection of political science, public health, and psychology. I am interested in understanding the political determinants of health, particularly the impact of politics on health governance and on people’s health-related attitudes and behaviors. My scholarship has appeared in a wide range of scholarly journals and in The Washington Post.
